Shimla :-With the rain coming down fast and heavy in the region the water sources of the capital city of Himachal Pradesh, Shimla, will have to do without water for as long as it takes the Shimla Jal Prabandhan Nigam Limited (SJPNL) time to unclog the pipes that provide water to the city. The three sources Gumma, Giri and Ashwani Khud have been contaminated with silt as rains lash the region. Today was the second day when the water supply did not reach homes and other establishments, even though the months of May and June saw evident improvement in the management of water. In June 2018 Shimla had seen one of the worst drought like situations when residents had to do without water supply for more than a week. Whatever amount of water that came to the city was diverted to the major hospitals. However, that wasn't sufficient either as patients suffered for the same. Most residents were able to harvest the rain water from the rain on Monday. The residents said they had no option but to buy packaged water. Many filled buckets with rainwater for household chores. However, authorities say that water supply will resume in a day or two.
