The Punjab Government led by Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh dedicated the auditorium at Government College in Dhudike village to the Renowned Punjabi Novelistz Jaswant Singh Kanwal, who breathed his last on February 01.
Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Moga Satwant Singh, while reading out a letter from the Rural Development and Panchayat, Animal Husbandry, Dairy Development and Fisheries Minister Tript Rajinder Singh Bajwa said that the Punjab Government has decided to name the auditorium at Government College Dhudike after Novelist Jaswant Singh Kanwal.
SDM Satwant Singh was here to attend the ‘Bhog’ Ceremony of the Novelist Jaswant Singh Kanwal at Gurdwara Ucha Dera in Dhudike village on Monday. Member Parliament Fardikot Mohammad Sadiq, Baghapurana MLA Darshan Singh Brar, Dharamkot MLA Sukhjit Singh Lohgarh and Nihal Singh Wala MLA Manjit Singh Bilaspur besides many eminent personalities from the field of literature were also present.
Jaswant Kanwal, who was born on June 27, 1919 in Dhudike village had penned over 100 books on Punjab, Punjabiat, farming, social issues and villages. His famous books include Sach Nu Fansi, Puranmashi, Paali, Raat Baaki Hai, Mittar Pyaare Nu, Haani, Baraf Di Agg, Lahu Di Loh, Zindagi Dur Nahi etc.
During the ceremony, Principal Singh Sarwan Singh, Sumel Singh Sidhu, Sardara Singh Johal, Amarjit Gurdaspuri, Bir Davinder Singh, Former Minister Tota Singh, Dr Surjit Patar, Swarajbir Singh, Jagmeet Brar, Gurbhajan GIll, Tejwant Singh Mann, Sukhdev Singh, Dr Surjit, Comrade Swaran Singh, Balwant Singh Ramuwalia, Jasdeep Singh Garry and Sarpanch Jasvir Singh paid tributes to Jaswant Singh Kanwal.
On the occasion, Former Minister Dr Malti Thapar, Chairman District Planning Board Inderjit Singh, Punjabi Singer Harbhajan Mann, Film Director Manmohan Singh, Professor Gurbhajan Gill, Sarpanch Jasbir Singh, Tejwant Singh Mann, Malkit Singh Dakha, Jagraj Singh Daudhar among other prominent persons were present.
