Chandigarh,
A meeting of the Sector 11 Residents Welfare Association was held on Saturday with its president G.P.S. Sahi in the chair at the community hall to discuss the problems facing the residents of the sector and seek their redressal.
The meeting was attended by the area councilor Maheshinder Singh Sidhu as well as officials of various engineering wings of the Municipal Corporation looking after cleanliness, road repairs, maintenance of sewerage and stormwater drainage and electricity supply and horticulture.
The meeting lasted about two hours during which residents highlighted issues relating to door to door collection of waste, street lighting, road repairs etc. The councilor directed concerned officials to take prompt action on the complaints of the residents. In this connection, the usefulness of the mobile app Swatch Bharat was highlighted. Sidhu explained in detail the steps being taken to improve the waste collection by educating and motivating the safai kamaramcharis.
President Sahi asked Sidhu to press the MC for framing a policy for maintaining and running the community hall for which the creation of a managing committee is essential. In the absence, the community hall has been reduced to a wedding hall despite the fact that it has a sprawling complex where certain sports facilities can be created. The library hall is also nonfunctional.
